Guests at the E’Terra Samara Resort on the Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada will soon have a chance to sleep in tree pods. The open-air villas are unique from conventional tree houses as they’re suspended, rather than built into the trees.
The samara project is being designed by the Ontario-based firm Farrow Partnership Architects Inc. “Consistent with the client’s philosophy of creating a restorative place in the forest that harmonizes with nature, the structure is designed to be suspended from the trees’ trunks, rather than following the common practice of nailing to the tree, thereby hugging the tree rather than piercing its flesh.”
