Brian Dettmer is an artist who has managed to combine two of my favorite things in life: visual art and books. He creates incredible pieces of artwork by carving into books to reveal their textual and pictorial content. Words can’t possibly do it justice.

Double Takes explores the intersection of geography and design through topics like art, photography and architecture. It launched in September 2007. Since then, it’s been featured by National Geographic Traveler and the Travel Channel, among others. Viator.com and Fathom recently named Double Takes one of the top 25 travel blogs.

Marketing professional who moonlights as a freelance writer and travel blogger residing in Chicago. She writes regularly for Conde Nast Traveler and Paste Magazine, and her articles have appeared in Bloomberg Business, Huffington Post, Yahoo Travel, and Glamour Magazine, among others.
After graduating from college, she spent two years living and working in South Korea. Before repatriating to Chicago. She took the scenic route home via a six-month backpacking trip from Indonesia to Bahrain. In short, she’s a collector of maps, passport stamps and freckles.
