Chiang Mai Night Safari: Wildlife After Dark

Wildlife After Dark at Chiang Mai Night Safari

Chiang Mai Night Safari is an internationally acclaimed nocturnal wildlife park featuring zoo and safari areas with animals mainly free to roam freely throughout. Additionally, there are shows and other activities designed to engage and amuse visitors of all ages.

Experience night-active animals by taking a tram ride, exploring the Jaguar Trail or watching the laser light show and musical fountain show that concludes your visit.

Savanna Safari

Chiang Mai Night Safari offers visitors a remarkable animal-themed nocturnal experience since opening its doors to visitors in February 2006. Divided into three primary zones — Savanna Safari, Predator Prowl and Jaguar Trail — guests have an opportunity to learn about fascinating creatures as well as experience spectacular shows during their visit.

The Savanna Safari is an expansive area designed to recreate an African savannah. Here you will find herds of herbivorous animals like giraffes, zebras, white rhinoceroses and ostriches grazing freely – not far from your tram tour route! Be sure to bring along your camera so you can capture these breathtaking images for social media feeds!

As you ride through this vast landscape on a tram, it can be easy to be taken by its natural beauty. But don’t be fooled into forgetting that savannah grasslands are also home to powerful predators and communities of people living alongside wildlife. By exploring clues in a recreated savanna ecosystem and uncovering “who’s who”, you will learn how camouflage and mimicry play crucial roles for both predators and prey alike.

At this park, there are numerous educational and entertaining animal shows, such as an evening show showcasing hyenas, cougars and tigers. I was impressed by their training methods–they certainly didn’t appear drugged like in Tiger Kingdom!

Predator Prowl

As its name suggests, this section of the park allows visitors to interact with predatory animals such as bears, cheetahs and lions up close and personal. Visitors can also observe and interact with rare Malayan tapirs found only in select places around the world – an experience only possible here! Additionally, elephants and white rhinoceroses also inhabit this zone.

One of the unique aspects of this zoo is that visitors are allowed to feed and touch certain animals. There is even an area in which visitors can pay a small fee to feed giraffes by hand – an experience not suitable for everyone, but nonetheless engaging and fun!

Chiang Mai Night Safari guests can also take part in various shows and activities during their stay, ranging from animal observation to seeing Thailand’s sole “dancing fountain.” For optimal experience and time savings, visitors should make arrangements through a tour agency in advance for their trip to the zoo.

Chiang Mai Night Safari is a must for anyone seeking an immersive wildlife experience in its natural setting, or wanting a break from urban living and fresh air. Travel by tram or on foot; either way this captivating attraction is sure to spark adventure and leave lasting memories behind.

Visitors to Savanna Safari and Predator Prowl zones can explore them either via an open-sided tram, or on foot along Jaguar Trail. In addition, there are restaurants, snack bars and other amenities located throughout the park for guest convenience. Plus there are viewing points in each zone so guests can get closer to animals!

Jaguar Trail

Visitors looking for an up-close experience of Chiang Mai’s nighttime wildlife should head straight for the Jaguar Trail zone. At its center is a large lake where visitors can stroll and observe tortoises, tigers and jaguars among many species of colorful birds.

At the night safari, there are other exciting activities you can experience beyond simply touring three animal zones. Hand-feeding animals and taking photographs with tiger cubs, purchasing charming souvenirs from shops nearby and testing your physical coordination at Fun Plaza can all add up to unforgettable adventures!

The Thailand Zoo opened in 2006 and has quickly become one of the city’s most beloved nighttime attractions. It features two animal viewing zones–Savanna Safari and Predator Prowl–and an exclusive walking path called Jaguar Trail; all animals reside within naturalistic settings that mimic their natural habitat.

Visitors to the zoo have two ways of experiencing its wonders – either aboard an open safari tram, or by foot. An open tram offers more comfort for traveling with children as animals like giraffes frequently poke their heads into it to look for food; spotlights light up these amazing animals so you can spot them even after dark!

If you decide to explore the animal zones on foot, you can walk through a savanna-and jungle-like environment where animals roam freely or follow Jaguar Trail which is an exclusive walking zone at the lake. Plus you can catch an awesome laser show or water spraying laser light show at Fun Plaza!

Chiang Mai Zoo is situated in northern Thailand. To reach it, either take an Uber for 250-300 THB per car ride, or use red truck (songthaew) transportation that will cost around 100-150 THB for return trips back into town. Please plan your visit accordingly as the three animal zones each open at different times; Savanna Safari and Predator Prowl evening areas open between 18:00-23:00 while Jaguar Trail opens its doors between 11:00am-1pm daily.

Water Laser Show

The show is an extraordinary visual presentation using multi-color lasers, water jets, underwater flames, surround sound, live actors and stunning visuals to tell a spiritual tale from Kena Upanishad. International experts collaborated with BAPS volunteers and sadhus to craft this one-of-a-kind presentation that is certain to awestruck and inspire.

After your show has concluded, take a ride on the Savanna Safari tram to experience more animals in their natural environments. This part of the park was designed to replicate an African savannah with wide open spaces filled with free roaming herbivorous and omnivorous animals such as giraffes, wild boars, zebras, and white rhinoceroses – many of them close enough for you to feed them if it happens during feeding time!

Other highlights include the predator show where half a dozen or so tigers and lions perform simple tricks for the audience with their trainers/handlers, truly an impressive sight since none of the animals look drugged like in shows like Tiger Kingdom.

Chiang Mai Night Safari offers an unforgettable experience for wildlife enthusiasts and families. Please dress comfortably, use insect repellent, and arrive early as it can become very hot in the city at night. A private taxi or tuk tuk may also help get you from town center directly to the park without hassles or crowds.
